At the end of 2014 we surveyed teachers in schools using LearningField to ask them how satisfied they are with LearningField, and to give us feedback on how they use the service and what they would like to see in the future.
Teachers were generally happy with their experience of LearningField, with 75% describing themselves as satisfied with the service. The respondents told us that the choice and support provided by LearningField were major factors: 89% of teachers rated the choice provided by the service as either good or very good and 9 out of 10 teachers found the training beneficial.
The results showed us that LearningField is frequently used by teachers – just over half the teachers are using the service 4–5 days a week comparted to only 1 in 20 teachers using the service one or less days a week. It is clear that teachers are primarily using LearningField to read and share textbooks, as just under 30% of teachers also use the note-taking feature for either personal and/or group use. However, 15% of respondents were already using the choice of textbooks to support differentiated learning within their classes.
It was great to hear where the teachers saw opportunities for us to improve the service. Respondents requested we investigate improvements in the reading experience in the eReaders, the search and filter tool for the catalogue, and the process of adding and removing chapters from groups. Several new features were also requested such as access to publishers’ interactive content, the ability to set quizzes within chapters, and integration with Learning Management Systems and other learning tools.
This feedback has already informed the development of our new platform, as well as the professional development focus for teachers in the future. Watch this space as we work with schools to organise the migration onto the new platform and announce our features for 2016 later in the year.
This information is also packaged in the infographic below. Many thanks to those teachers who took the time to complete the survey and provide this invaluable feedback.
