In our first full year of operating we have had amazing support and feedback from schools using the service. This has resulted in many of our schools expanding their use of LearningField for 2015, and new schools implementing LearningField for the first time. Our new schools will be a mix of metropolitan and regional schools, plus our first schools in Queensland and Western Australia.
A key attraction of LearningField, is the availability of choice and the ability for teachers to move away from having to select just one textbook for a class or year group and to select texts suited to learning needs.
This couldn’t be achieved without the commitment and support from our publishers. It has been a new and brave venture to aggregate textbooks on the one service, in what is a highly competitive marketplace. The last few weeks have seen our publishers hard at work providing us with updated editions, new textbooks, texts for our new offering for Years 11 and 12 (HSC, VCE) and our new publishers working with us to provide their digital texts (Macmillan Education, Insight Publications and James Goold House Publications). Over 1000 additional chapters have been added to LearningField so far, with more to come later this term. We are so pleased to be able offer such an impressive and comprehensive choice from these key Australian educational publishers.
One of our key strengths has been implementing LearningField successfully from Day 1. It can be a big leap for a school to make the change to digital textbooks or just moving to a new supplier, and this is often implemented alongside other major changes – introducing BYOD, changing infrastructure, new LMS etc. We are mindful that there is a lot to manage within the school environment and it is important for digital textbooks to happen seamlessly.
We are currently in the process of conducting implementation planning meetings to ensure all key areas are covered off and a plan for communication, training and support is in place.
On the training front we have improved and extended our training options for schools. We understand that teachers are time poor and flexibility is key to managing competing demands. To meet this need, we are rolling out e-learning options to compliment the face to face, school champion, video, knowledge base and support ticketing approaches.
Our support also extends to assisting with communication needs and many of our schools are in the process of communicating to parents about changes to the learning environment. We are pleased to supply supporting materials that can be adapted for the school’s purpose on the introduction of LearningField.
Looking forward to a great 2015.
