We know it’s essential for teachers to be able to easily find up-to-date resources linked to their state’s curriculum when they’re planning a lesson. So to support upcoming changes in Victoria in 2017 and Queensland in 2018, LearningField is getting ready now by working with leading publishers to remap new and existing titles available through our platform to the updated curriculum for both states.
Changes in Victoria
The Victorian Curriculum (VC) will incorporate the Australian Curriculum (AC) Version 8.0 changes whilst also reflecting the state’s own educational standards and priorities. The changes are about streamlining learning areas by re-categorising learning domains, strands and sub-strands, similar to the AC but extended to suit the following eight learning areas: English, Maths, Science, Health & PE, Humanities & Social Sciences (including History, Geography, Civics & Citizenship and Business & Economics), Languages, the Arts and Technologies (including Design and Digital Technologies).
LearningField has started working closely with Pearson Australia, Oxford University Press and Cengage Learning to ensure the latest editions of resources are available for titles spanning every secondary year level and remapped as appropriate in time for the first school term in 2017. This includes new editions and titles planned for release from now until 2017.
Some LearningField titles already supporting the VC include:
- Fit for Life! for Levels 7-8 Student Books from Cengage
- Fit for Life! for Levels 9-10 Student Books from Cengage
Other forthcoming titles supporting VC include:
|Cambridge University Press||Essential Mathematics for the Victorian Curriculum||7-10||Mathematics|
|Cengage Learning||Sciences: Yours to Discover Series||7-10||Science|
|Oxford University Press||Big Ideas Humanities Victorian Curriculum Series||7-10||English|
|Oxford University Press||MyMaths Victorian Curriculum Series||7-10||Mathematics|
Work will continue to work with more publishers in coming weeks.
Changes in Queensland
As you know, Queensland will be introducing a new senior assessment model for students entering Year 11 in 2018.
LearningField will be working to make sure all resources can be easily searched and assigned to support Queensland teachers through assessment changes specific to this and subsequent year levels.
