Arden is an independent Sydney school using LearningField. In the following Northern District Times article the school describes how its students, equipped with iPads, are able to read, annotate, communicate and highlight in the textbooks across all their subjects, all within the one LearningField app.
Grace de Rijk, 14, is in Year 9 at Arden is using LearningField for a number of her subjects.
“It’s more fun and it’s interactive, because teachers can put notes into the app,” she said.
“If you miss class, you can still do your homework and it’s also easier than carrying around books.
“Our generation knows all about this technology, so we’re able to do it ourselves.”
Principal Graham Anderson said LearningField was designed to complement old technology, not replace it.
“These devices tend to be common with their generation,” Mr Anderson said.
“But when you reach a point of assessment, it’s a pen and paper examination and we have to keep that in the back of our minds. Our focus is on investigating the best ways of learning.”
